New Custom Pool Construction

For Kingwood, Humble, Conroe, and Greater Houston, TX Areas

At Nelson Pools, we have over 50 years of experience constructing pools for properties across Splendora, Conroe, Humble, Kingwood, Porter, and Spring, TX areas. We pair that expertise with an unflappable commitment to our customers to deliver exceptional results that are second to none.

In order to ensure that you feel comfortable and confident throughout every stage of your project, we are sharing our step-by-step construction process. Keep in mind that we customize every job to your specific needs, and before construction begins, you will work with our expert design consultant to create a plan of action tailored to your unique style and budget preferences.

1. Utility Location and Layout: Before any excavation can begin, our team works with your utility companies to clarify where the utility lines are located on your property. Next, we carefully paint and stake where your pool will be located, asking you for your final approval.

2.Excavation: Construction begins! Our experienced crew will use a loader to remove dirt and debris from the pool area. At the same time, we are placing form boards around the approved layout, hand-shaping and contouring the interior. Typically, the excavation takes a full day.

3. Plumbing and Steel Reinforcement: This step is essential to the longevity and function of your pool. We set your pool equipment and plumbing and test these systems to ensure the integrity of the lines under pressure before moving on. Next, the steel crew will install the reinforcing steel rods, creating what looks like a large steel cage specifically constructed to the contours of your pool. This steel is used to strengthen your pool for ultimate safety and durability.

4. Gunite Installation: Gunite is a type of specialty concrete product used for its incredible resilience. Our team shoots the gunite into place, taking extra precautions to minimize airborne debris. Post-installation, we ask for your help in the curing process. This doesn’t take long, but 2-3 times a day for 10 days, you will need to apply water to the structure to make certain the outer surface is cured at a rate that matches the center.

5. Electrical Installation: Lights, smart technology, and pool equipment that depend on your electrical system are installed with the highest degree of safety and care. We work exclusively with master electricians who abide by local guidelines and requirements to ensure everything is up to code.

6. Tiling/Coping Installation: After you have selected the style and color of your tile and coping, we will expertly install them to your exact specifications. This is also the time we install any rock waterfalls or decorative features if you are including them in your design.

7. Deck Installation: While the pool is the main event, it is important not to neglect the areas immediately around it. From brushed concrete to a lush tropical landscape, our team takes the time to create an oasis around your pool that ensures you will love your space for years to come.

8. Inferior Finish: Our contractors will apply the interior finish you selected during the design process and then immediately begin filling your pool. It is important to allow the pool to completely fill before entering. Once filled, we turn on the circulation equipment and walk you through best practices for operating your pool equipment for maximum benefit.

9. Enjoy Your Pool!
